Richlands 65, Twin Valley 57
Behind an early barrage of 3-pointers by Blake Tatum and a strong defensive fourth quarter, Richlands posted a home win over Twin Valley. Gunner McGee led all scorers with 23 ,while Tatum finished with six 3-pointers for 18 points. Four Twin Valley players reached double figures, led by Josh Smith?s 14 points.
Powell Valley 45, John Battle 24
Ryan Hubbard scored 13 and Tyler Garrison added 12 as the Vikings beat the Trojans.
Grundy 55, Council 53
Ben Rife scored 25 points and Grundy overcame a 15-point second-half deficit to win.
Powell Valley 69, Pound 25
In a Lonesome Pine District game played Tuesday, Tyler Garrison scored 17 points to pace Powell Valley?s offense in an easy victory over Pound.


PREP GIRLS
Honaker 57, Castlewood 44
Emily Kiser scores 17 points as the Tigers beat the Blue Devils. Rachel Artrip added 15 in the win. Castlewood was led by Danielle Jessee?s 14 points.
Council 45, Grundy 40
Dakota Bostic fired in 21 points as Council won a non-district game.
Richlands 60, Twin Valley 52
Evan Ferrell scored 17 points to lead Richlands past Twin Valley for a non-district victory. Megan Robinson added 15 points for the Tornado, while Rachel Alley pulled down 14 rebounds. Katie Jo Lester had 26 points and 16 rebounds for TV.
Powell Valley 47, John Battle 39
Tasha Trent poured in 20 points and Laura Schoolcraft added 16 as the Vikings beat the Trojans. Ashley Bryant led Battle with 18 points.

Pound beat Jenkins last night in boys by 8.

The reffing over in Kentucky was laughable at best. There were 63 combined free throws shot (37 by Jenkins) with each team having 2 players foul out and Pound having 3 on the floor with 4 fouls. One play a sneeze was a foul while late in the game a clothes line went by without a whistle.

The JV game really took the cake. The first half was played with only 1 ref. At one point, Jenkins played about a 30 second span on defense with 6 players on the floor. Pound's coach attempts at getting the refs attention went ignored. Jenkins was able to get a rebound on a missed shot before the game was stopped for the violation. Pound picked a shooter to go to the FT line for the upcoming Technical free throw, only to have the ref tell Jenkins coach to sit a player. Jenkins was then rewarded with the ball.

The ref then instructed Pound's JV coach that he had lost his speaking privelages for the remainder of the game.

In other words... don't complain about the refs we have here in Virginia! As bad as we may feel they are at times, they are way better than those I saw over in Kentucky Wednesday night!
